Hi all Woodlanders!
Thought it might be appropriate to introduce myself and explain my background a little as President of Woodlands Landcare. Starting from Forestech in Kalimna, East Gippsland I have studied Dual Diploma's in Conservation & Land Management, as well as Dip in Environmental Sustainability. I have also enjoyed working on many revegetation/native rehabilitation projects throughout district. I have also been involved in the research, trapping and monitoring of native species the Brush-tailed Phascogale' (Phascogale tapoatafa) for the Arthur Rylah Institute ARI, together with the Southern Ark Project, East Gippsland, and native mammal recovery of species such as the Long-nosed Potaroo ( Potorus tridactylus) and Southern Brown Bandicoot (Isodon obselus). Amongst many other projects I also enjoy hiking in such diverse and wonderful areas such as the Grampians, Mt Alexander region and the Huon Valley in Tasmania being a favourite. I began my Environmental Science degree, but have taken a hiatus to concentrate on gaining more practical experience and training within the Landcare network and I'm very excited too be meeting and working with such dedicated and committed individuals that share the same passion and goals for our unique environment. Here at Woodlands Landcare, we welcome all new members and any interested amongst the community, and we would like to invite warmly everyone to join up and come along to our Workshops, projects, working bee's and other community events! Wishing everyone a happy, joyous and fulfilling 2017! Mariea Pacheco President Woodlands Landcare
